What is NDI?
In July 2013, I'll be traveling to Ometepe, Nicaragua
with a group of classmates to volunteer with
Natural Doctors International (NDI). NDI is a
501c non-profit grassroots medical health outreach committed to global health.
Since 2003, they have work to bring needed medical attention on an international level by providing naturopathic medicine free of charge to at-need communities serving more that 13,000 patients.
NDI maintain a health clinic in the town of Los Angeles, on the Island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. It offers free medical care from volunteer naturopathic physicians, as well as free medicine, free ambulance service and long term medical support for patients with chronic conditions.
Patients of all ages are treated and physicians are available for general health consults or emergencies. The doctors collaborate with M.D.'s, nurses and various other natural medicine providers.
Furthermore, NDI manages other health and community projects on Ometepe, and run 10 day health courses on "Natural Medicine and Global Health".
More information on NDI can be found on their website at www.ndimed.org
